You Pick the Wood

At The Mill Furniture Co, we use only the finest hardwoods available. No laminates and no low grade soft woods found in big box stores are ever used. We give you a choice between five different hardwood species, each with their own unique characteristics.

ALDER: A knotty wood that is fairly soft and usually a light tan color. It has a generally straight grain with a moderately fine, uniform texture.

MAPLE: A moderately dense wood that is usually white to an off-white color. Grain is generally straight with a fine even texture.

HICKORY: A very dense wood that tends be be light to medium brown in color with generally straight grain. Grain can occasionally be wavy with a medium texture.

OAK: A very dense wood that is usually light to medium brown, commonly with an olive cast. Usually has a straight grain.

WALNUT: A moderately dense wood that ranges in color from light pale brown to dark chocolate brown with darker brown streaks. Usually has a straight grain but it can be irregular.
